"It was so rich and descriptive, and the characters so fascinating and with such depth, I found myself yearning for more, more, more!" -Bella Indie Book Reviews
Huddled in the shadows, Jae watches while one of the Mé'Draak brands his cellmate as a slave before viciously dragging him from the room. Feeling the weight of the metal collar around his neck, Jae is left alone to contemplate his own fate. Will the afternoon session break him? Will it kill him? Or will he end up like his cellmate, a helpless pawn neither living nor dead?
The first in The Legacy of Ilvania series, Redemption is a collection of four short stories designed to take readers through a whirlwind of powerful thoughts and emotions. With a world in turmoil, even the smallest person can make a difference.

There is little or no fat on this story; no wasted words or unnecessary info, and there's no difficulty connecting with Jae's plight. He is unpretentious and caring and fighting for his life, even if only in his mind. The right amount of back story is provided at the right time, so that the tension and conflict are unaffected by the necessary insights. At eighteen pages, it is a quick read, but so much detail is packed in those pages that you feel like any larger questions can wait until there's more story being told--and there simply has to be more story that will be told. The ending needed a few sentences more of closure, but I really enjoyed the book and was glad that the next story was readily available.Product details

Redemption A Collection of Short Stories The Legacy of Ilvania Short Story Collection Book 1 eBook Andi O'Connor Reviews
Would of liked to know more about the history of the kingdom and the threats it faces.
Definitely a fun and interesting reading.
Loved it. It's a dark short story. Would love to know about the characters and world she created. Would recommend to others. I look forward to reading more of Andi's books.
I thoroughly enjoyed this short story by Andi O'Connor. Redemption lends a bit of a different tone than her other works (Silevethiel, The Lost Heir) with darker themes surrounding the protagonist and his plight. There is a deep sense of compassion the reader evokes towards him as he struggles against his captors, and a true sense of fear and disheartening at what happens to him. Though, as the title suggests, there is Redemption at hand for the torturous power that dominates the landscape in this story. I felt many times the suffering and sorrow that was expressed by the boy being put through the hellish rituals of his "teachers." There is a deep feeling of sadness, then happiness and empathy that is evoked as the story progresses, which lends the reader a hand to recover from what has been bestowed upon them. Familiar themes of O'Connor's within the story also are presented, dealing with equality, human rights, and feelings of self worth. All in all, a great read, highly recommended, and a great way to get into what Andi O'Connor has to offer -)
I love short stories. I didn’t see much of this story, because It was largely told, so it was left for me to visualize and imagine what much of the scenes could have looked like. In all, it still came through as a good story. A story of oppression, and of slavery! Such stories always touch a sore spot in me. The story of man’s inhumanity to man, with, in this case, man acting, or assuming to be supreme.
No one but God is supreme, and anyone who tried, paid a costly price, whether amongst the angels, or among humans. The supreme power, always finds a way to take control. Nice story!
